Chay Viet Vegetarian is the virtual sister restaurant of DZO Viet Eatery offering an entire menu of vegetarian/vegan viet food! The portions were honestly massive which I loved. My fav was def the photine as it was super unique, and the amount of cheese & vegan beef was PERFECT! We also got their vegan wings in saigon flavour, which were coated in “fish” sauce & lime! They were yummy and crunchy, but I was dying cuz i can’t handle spice at all haha. I rly liked the braised king mushrooms with sweet soy glaze, but majority of the pandan rice it came w was quite hard…I did like how you can taste the pandan flavour, as well as the vibrant green colour! Also had their vegan dry pho which was real good. My bf and I loved the combo of the thick rice noodles with mushrooms & vegan beef! Personally I would have preferred a lil more sauce haha. Overall they have lots of options and I think it’s worth a try! :)

Chay Viet is a vegetarian joint inside another restaurant. The decor is beautiful and chic. Staff is kind! Although the lemongrass curry with tofu, pumpkin and cassava ($15) dish was delicious, I can’t seem to find cassava. The main reason I ordered the dish is because of the staff’s rave reviews about the cassava. It was very disappointing to receive a dish with an over abundance of carrots. Overall, I look forward to dining in Chay Viet for other dishes once the lock down ends. Hopefully there will be cassava available then!
The food was absolutely delicious!! I had the dry vegan pho. Every component was seasoned beautifully. The flavour of the broth as well as the noodles, tofu, and mushrooms all were exceptional and became phenomenal when paired together with the fresh veggies. I look forward to returning and trying out more dishes.
I was warmly welcomed by the owner and cook. We had a very nice conversation, and she was very helpful in giving me some recommendations for what to try. I am not vegan, but I decided to try out the meal. It was so tasty, and I didn’t miss the meat at all. I feel like you could enjoy this place if you were vegan or not. I also ordered a coffee that was delicious. It almost tasted chocolatey. The owner explained that she gets their coffee from the mountains in Vietnam, so it has a very different taste that is really nice to try out if you are looking to explore tastes from around the world. It was a beautiful experience from the taste to the conversations. Thank you!
My roommates and I ordered the Hanoi Claypot, Vegan Dry Pho, Crispy BBQ Vegan Duck and the Vegan Wings on Uber Eats last night and they did not disappoint. The portions are great and the food super fresh and flavourful. Unfortunately, we were too hungry to take any pictures of our food. Will definitely be ordering from here again :-)
