Nastiest bed I’ve ever slept in. There were stains everywhere and the mattress and blanket were smelly. Mattress is also super thin, so feels like you are laying on wood. The curtain only covered half of my bed, so no privacy. There are way more hostels for this price nearby with much higher quality. Do yourself a favor and book there. Only positive was the friendly staff.

Unfortunately the pictures do not in any way represent what the reality is. I reserved a room with a private bathroom and I was told the only room available was a dark, small room with a double mattress quite literally on the floor. It made for a quite uncomfortable stay but as it was only one night I got on with it. Yes it is a budget hostel, but there are far better alternatives nearby for around the same price. Also the AC didn’t work; although this seems to be a common theme in Hanoi. Despite the room, the staff were friendly and the free breakfast was good. I just feel there should be more transparency with the rooms.

Good location, but that’s all that can be said. The room (I booked a private) was a bed on the floor with one working lightbulb, and the shared bathroom was NASTY - in a way that it’s obviously not because of the other guests but just that it’s grimy and really dirty. No pictures of the toilet because why would I want that in my gallery. I also tried to check in at 2 only to be asked to come back later TWICE. Quite disappointing, really. High reviews are probably because they give you a free drink if you show them a 5/5 review

First of all: The location is awesome. But hence this place is exchanging 5-star-reviews for free drinks, I feel obligated to leave an honest review: We booked 4 nights but left after 2. The bedsheet was dirty. We found multiple hairs and there was rubbish and cigarette buds in the pot of the roomplant. Price is good though, if you don't mind a lack of hygiene.

Great location! Terrible place to stay. I thought the receptionist was joking initially when he took me to my private room. It was a mattress on the floor in what I suspect was once a cupboard. The bedding did not fit and there was black mould on the mattress. When I mentioned that this was not good quality for what I was paying, the receptionist laughed and said "Welcome to the Old Quarter." Considering that for the same price you could get a very decent room in hotel or hostel, this is very below standard.

The room was about 5 minutes away from the reception, in another building in another area! I had to carry my luggage and my bag pack without any help! Room was in 3rd floor. Tiny round metal stairs, like a nightmare to carry luggages. Room was around 12 meters but it supposed to be 30 meters as per description! Zero amenities, no soap or shampoo or hair dryer Toilet was not cleaned properly 😫 One of the staff showed up around 11:00 pm and asked me to cancel the booking so he doesn’t pay 20% to Agoda

Phòng ốc cũ kỹ được xây dựng từ thập niên 1970 nhưng khá thoải mái, đầy đủ tiện nghi. Giá phòng phải chăng, đặc biệt là vị trí nằm trên bờ hồ thơ mộng. Ăn sáng hơi chán.

I haven't actually been to this hotel, but I have to rate it in order to comment: This Google profile is confusing because it includes photos from 2-3 hotels located in Tay Ho (West Lake), but the actual address on the profile is quite far from that location. There is a hotel near West Lake called Thắng Lợi hotel, but for some reason, this hotel comes up first when searching for Thắng Lợi. The English name on this profile is Royal Louis, but under that it has the name Thắng Lợi (not a direct translation as far as I can tell) in addition to the 2-3 other hotels in its photos (including the actual Thắng Lợi near West Lake), AND customers mentioning a couple of other names and locations in the comments. Maybe it was formerly by West Lake and moved locations or something, but please be aware of the discrepancies and double-check the address to make sure you're headed to the right spot. I've reported it to Google (Sept 06 2025), but I'm not sure what the actual issue is (incorrect address, incorrect name, two hotels by the same company, customers posting photos to the wrong profile, etc), so I'm not sure if or when it will get sorted out. At first I just thought that there were two hotels by the same name, but the fact that this profile has so many photos by the lake and from other hotels struck me as odd and worth noting for others. Edit: Both the website link and the Agoda link on this profile are for the one in Tay Ho, but the address is not.
