The Moon Boutique Hotel Cat Ba

We booked two double beds and our stay was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and we enjoyed a complimentary fruit basket and smoothies upon arrival. The beds were also much softer than our previous hotels which was a welcome surprise. The staff were also wonderful and attentive. At one point during the evening (2am) my roommate took the hotel key used for power (by accident) and they were more than happy to supply a spare until the next day. Breakfast was a mix of western and Vietnamese as well as smoothies, juices, and coffees. Definitely something for everyone. I'll definitely be staying here again when I return.

Five stars from me! Our stay at Moon Boutique Hotel Cat Ba was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond; warm, thoughtful, and always ready to help, making us feel truly cared for throughout our stay. The hotel was spotlessly clean, with beautifully designed rooms and incredibly comfortable beds that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring. Breakfast was a real treat, offering a wide selection of delicious options made fresh upon order, including fresh smoothies and juices. The rooftop café was the perfect spot to unwind with a drink. A special thanks to Mrs. Ling and Ms. Huong for their exceptional hospitality. I will most definitely be coming back and highly recommend this gem of a hotel to anyone visiting Cat Ba.

We find it hard to believe this is only a 3 star hotel and I guess if they had a pool it would be 4 star… it certainly felt like a 4 star hotel. Beds were extremely comfortable, breakfast was very nice but the staff go out of their way to help you and accommodate you. I was suffering from a parasite I had obtained along the way on our trip and had a bad night of illness. The manageress in the Cat Ba Express office went above and beyond by getting her daughter to bring to the hotel some tablets and this wonderful medicinal oil for my tummy…. Both worked wonders! The Cat Ba Express office is in the ground floor of the hotel and it is where you check in/out. The staff there are so friendly and chatty. They organised our transport for our return to Hanoi and it was delightful to experience the Cat Ba cable car. The shower was very powerful - great water pressure but consequently the water gun was a bit too fierce! The location was perfect as was our room and they chambermaid came daily with fresh towels, made the bed etc. We would definitely stay here again as we also stayed in a 5 star hotel resort on Cat Ba prior to this and the service there was terrible! The staff really make you feel valued here at The Moon Boutique hotel!

The room was clean and probably the newest building so far on the island (reviewing Sept 2025). The room wall decor was just beautiful. The staff were all exceptional, we had a slight hiccup with the room key not opening the door at one stage. The gulf/sea view was almost fully blocked out by the massive new construction right in front of the beach. Google maps hasn't even acknowledged that they've extended the beach out and put buildings in place of the old beach. The reason I chose this hotel location was it looked like it was beach front on google maps but it's not. You can't even swim at this beach because of construction. It's a 20min walk up the hill to the nearest overcrowded beach. It would've been better if we had aircon already on before we got into the room as it was hot and humid everywhere. Other than that the staff were very accommodating and helpful, welcome and goodbye drinks were very much appreciated. Chicken in the pho at breakfast was dry but all fruits and smoothies were fresh and refreshing and they even offered proper Vietnamese coffee during breakfast. They helped book our transfers back to Hanoi which was convenient. Thank you.

This is a very nice hotel with excellent service. We had two spacious and immaculate rooms for our family which meant we had the whole floor to ourselves. They organized transport for us to Tam Coc. Great breakfast too. Highly recommended if you need to spend a night or two in Cat Ba.

We stayed here for two nights, before and after a Cat Ba Ventures overnight trip in Hà Long/Lan Ha Bay. This is the nicest hotel we've stayed in in Vietnam! Absolutely fantastic. The AC works really well, the beds are comfy and come with several pillows, staff are lovely and helpful, the amenities are excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. The rooftop area is great for having a beer and people watching at night. I have no complaints and highly recommend!

I had a great day at this hotel. The room was spacious, cleaned. I love the mattress, so soft to lie down after walking around the city. Hotel staff’s helped us carry luggage, even though walked us cross the busy street with care. Breakfast was served in few ranges, Pho was my choice. Ate 2 bowls 🤣🤣 Anyway, we love everything about this hotel. Really no seeding. Thank you again!!
