Halo Bay Homestay

Super nice host but they have BED BUGS! We got in, showered and after traveling 18 hours by plane wanted to have a nice rest. 3 hours later all 3 of us woke up to bed bugs bitting us. We had to get up and go down stairs. We waited until she got up to tell her, she don’t looked shocked but said sorry. We spent a vacation day running on 3 hours of sleep and had to find a place to wash all our belongings, clean our suitcases and backpacks and find a new place to sleep. Do not stay here, again she is nice but not worth bed bugs.

One of the best hostel I stayed on my journey. + They send you some trips and nice places by whatsapp if you want. + You can have family dinner every evening with Hien and Quang, the lovely hosts and with the other guests. It‘s delicious Vietnamese food and would be a waste of money to go to a restaurant. + Her English is amazing + There are guitars for the guests, she can play guitar and sing Viet songs. + They organize boat and bus trips for you. They have better prices than you find online. + They drive you to the harbour or other places for small money. + I was late for the included breakfast, and she made me some eggs. + They help you with everything. If you are in trouble you can call her to translate or to talk in Vietnamese.

I had an extremely pleasant stay at Halo,Hien and quang were both great hosts....Hien producing some lovely local food which I am extremely gratefull for The house is beautifull,and well thought out spaces on each floor,it flows well on every level.....weather your in a dorm room or private one your privacy has been accounted for. Great location too 10/10 100% recommended

Amazing homestay cum hostel in Ha Long City. Stayed in a 6 bed dorm for 1 night. Cons - 1. It is a homestay so no elevators (If you can’t take stairs, then reconsider) 2. Washrooms might be smaller and inconvenient for some as you have to take bath standing in a bathtub. 3. Flooring is wooden so you have to leave your footwear downstairs. 4. If you get late or want to come late, inform uncle as gates are closed by 11 PM. Pros - 1. Free breakfast provided which includes bread toast and coffee. 2. Very homely, safe and comfortable dorms 3. Uncle, Aunt and their son is very helpful. 4. Curtains, Wifi is available. They have private rooms also with washrooms attached on 1st and 2nd floor. We booked our Ha Long bay with them and they didn’t charge a lot extra but cruise was okayish like the food and interiors of cruise. Everything else is same as other cruise operators. Uncle dropped 4 of us to the port in his car and charged accordingly. P.S - Ha Long is a seaside town and separated by water so if you want to stay near cruise port and night market, you can book your stay there. Date of Stay - 31st August, 2024

Nice and clean place, very friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts, giving lots of information and advice on where to go and what to visit! Recommended!

Hein and Kuong were great hosts, very hospitable! There home is simple and comfortable, a nice respite from the hustle of traveling.

Me and my friends stayed here for 3 nights and had an amazing experience! Ha was so lovely and accommodating. Her and her husband cooked us a delicious dinner which if you stay here you should definitely join her for!

my friends and I stayed in this beautiful homestay during our time in ha long and had such an amazing experience here! Hosts were all so lovely and welcoming offering so much support and amazing recommendations and experiences including city tours and food market tours, the room was so lovely and clean with the nicest decor and view. We had the privilege to eat a home cooked dinner with the family and it was the best meal I’ve eaten during our time in Vietnam overall had the best time here and loved our time with Ha, would 100% recommend this to anyone coming to ha long for a unique and memorable experience
